Princess Love - Chapter 28

"You know that Jen will never let her go." Elizabeth stood in the bathroom, brushing her teeth next to Brian, who was doing the same.
"Sammi?" Elizabeth nodded. "I know, but it will be for the best."
"Yeah, but what do you think Nick will do?  I doubt he will want the responsibility of a six year old." Elizabeth said and went into the bedroom.  She grabbed her pajamas and went back into the bathroom.
"I don't know, he would be able to deal with it, I know he would." Brian jumped up on the counter and looked at Elizabeth.  She looked tired, worn, and Brian wondered if she would back it to the end of the trial.
"Are you okay?" He asked and she nodded, solemnly.  She had another thing in common with Brian, she never wanted to admit her faults.
"Yeah, great." She said and went back into the bedroom and threw her pajamas on the back of a chair and laid down on the bed.  Brian stood in the door way, his arms crossed over his chest and he watched her.
"I know this is hard for you." He said and slowly approached her and she sat up.
"How?" She said, a look came upon her face that he hadn't seen before.  She looked angry and her tiredness didn't help.
"I-" He started but Elizabeth stood up.
"How?" She said, her voice rising. "How do you know!? You don't!" She said and glared at him, anger so clear on her face that Brian looked down at the floor.  "Uh!" She said and shook her head and ran out the door.  Brian stood in the same spot for a minute, not sure what to do or where to go.
"Retard." He said under his breath and walked out of the room with a hat and a pair of sunglasses on.  It was late and he wasn't sure where he was going to go.  He reached the lobby and then knew.
He walked, as fast as he could, for a long time.  He came closer and closer to the bridge and saw a slender figure standing there.  Her head was bent and she was looking down at the water, she was leaning over so far that her tears began to fall down into the flowing water.
"Liz..." He said and she looked at him for a minute and turned back to the water.  "I love you, you know that?" He asked and she didn't say anything.  "Love... that is a strange word sometimes, a word that many people won't, or afraid, to use.  I'm not, I love you.  Love is stronger than any bind, or title or the biggest pay check."
"I am so tired Brian, I am so tired." Brian looked at her carefully and wondered if she was sick.
"Are you sick?" He asked and she shook her head.
"I don't think so, I am just tired.  Nothing seems to go right-"
"I am, aren't I? I'm right." He smiled at her and he looked at her.
"Wow, Deja Vu in the highest form." He laughed and she smiled.
"I know, I couldn't think of any other place to go."
"You and me will feel a lot better once we get home." He said and looked out over the water.  The sky was black and there was one single star straight ahead.
"What did you wish for?" She asked curiously and he smiled.
"I can't tell." He smiled at her and put his arm around her shoulders.
"Yes you can..." She smiled at him and he shook his head.
"Nope, it's not possible." He said and became serious. "You are moving into our house." He said, not seeming to give her much choice.
"I don't know if I could ever live with that many people." She said and they walked down the long road to the hotel.
"If I can, anyone can." He laughed. "It is chaos twenty-four seven, but I couldn't live without it.  It is something that helps us grow with our music and our appreciation for it and each other.  And it would only help if you lived with us."
"Let me think about it." She smiled, she wanted to.  She had never lived with a bunch of people like that and she wondered what it was really like.
They walked up to the hotel and went to sleep that night, thinking about what life would be like, after the trial.

"You would never leave me, right?" Kim asked Kevin, out of the blue as they sat on the floor and flipped through the channels.
"Of course not." Kevin walked over to her and sat behind her, his muscular arms wrapped around her.  She closed her eyes and smiled to herself, this was a step up from the life she had lived before.
She was 26 years old, but she had seen a lot, but she never talked about it to anyone, ANYONE.  That included her parents, who knew what had happened but really didn't want to discuss it.
"As long as you promise to be truthful to me, always." Kevin said and Kim sat straight up, she didn't know where that had come from.
"I will." She said and closed her eyes, but he didn't see her.
She invisioned the man that she had loved, who had left her, heart-broken and pregnant.  She had delivered the child, who had died a year later of a mysterious blood clot that had come unexpectatedly.  She didn't think she would tell anyone and she didn't think she would ever have children again, it was the worst thing that she had ever been through.
"I love you." Kim said and Kevin turned the television off and lifted her up off of her feet, she looked at him, closely.  She stared in his eyes and she nearly lost herself looking into them, she forgot where she was and what she was doing.
He laid her on the bed and kissed her and kissed her and kissed her...

The next day they went back to the courtroom, for what seemed like a never-ending couple of hours.  Doctor's were called up, who supported evidence that John killed the prince.  It seemed like no one knew about the death of Jen's mother, but they all suspected that John did it out of
jealousy.
That day Jen got on the stand and took her time answering the questions, but she knew close to nothing.  All she knew was that she had see a guy standing over her mother; she wasn't sure if it was her father or not.
"We will now close this up." Jeremy Robertson stood up and began his closing arguements.
"It is obvious that John Thompson killed both the Prince and Mrs. Thompson.  What about James? We don't know, but we do know that he talked bad to his young daughter, about murder and other high crimes.  These men are both guilty." He said and sat down, the other lawyer stood up.
"It is obvious that these men didn't do anything wrong. There is no medical evidence and very few witnesses that can testify to the fact that he killed either of-"
"Not true!" A woman from the back of the court said and Jen stood up.
"Mommy!?" She asked and her mother looked at her and nodded.  "Oh my god!" She screamed, fainting and this time she hit her head with a powerful bang on the floor.
