Valerie was doing it again and she was exhausted. She made her way
up to her house and waited for the comments to start.
"Steve loves you Valerie!" She heard one of them say and then she saw a
rock fly nearby, nearly hitting her. They had done it almost every
day since the beginning of the year; and the year was almost over.
She stopped short and the group of guys stopped with her, they hadn't seen
her do that before, they were wondering what she was going to do next.
Her face was red with rage and she wheeled around on her heel.
"What the FUCK is your problem!?" She spat at them and the group looked
astonished. They hadn't heard one word from her since they knew her
and now she had amazed them with her first words to their faces.
"Wha-" One of them began.
"You will be sorry one day! I will come back on our 5th year high school
reunion and you will see what you missed! You watch you little losers!"
She said and turned back around and continued her journey. They stood
in there spots and watched her from behind, not sure what to say or what
to do.
Valerie didn't care, she had work to do. The minute she got in the
door she ran upstairs and got dressed in her uniform and ran to the phone.
"I am ready." She told her friend and ten minutes later her friend picked
her up and brought her to work.
Valerie was seventeen years old,. younger than most of the people in her
senior class, and she was also wiser. She had ran away from home
when she was sixteen and she knew that her parents were still looking for
her, but not with much success. She had ran from New York City up
to the little town in New York State. She had a job and went to school.
She worked her butt off everyday. She went to school, got home, got
dressed and went to work until eleven. Then she went to sleep and
woke up at three to do her homework. She didn't need sleep, she was
happy enough to be warm and fed.
There was only a month left of school and she had already been excepted
to the University of Florida. She was going to go to the film school
and was hoping to persue a career in directing. She had been lucky
enough to get a full scholorship to the school and she had saved up enough
money to go down to
Florida. She knew it would be hard, but she would have to work and
go to school to insure that she would be able to eat. But she was
happy, as long as her parent's didn't find her.
Jenny went to sleep in the dark room and woke up an hour later when she
heard a blood churning scream. She sat up and looked around, but she couldn't
see anything. She stood up in the oversized t-shirt that she wore
to bed and stumbled on her way to the living room where she had heard the
scream. Her room was upstairs by the stairs and once she left her
room she could look down into the living room. She stood there and
saw a single light in the corner, it was a candle. Her eyes quickly
adjusted to the darkness and she strained to see who was in the room.
She walked slowly down the stairs and switched the lights on. Her
eyes opened in amazement and fear. She went white and then she let
out a scream that could be heard all over the neighborhood. She pinched
herself, she wanted to make sure that she wasn't dreaming and she wanted
to make sure that she didn't faint.
"Daddy!" She screamed at the tall man standing before her. He was
wearing a white button down shirt, untucked and unbottoned. He wore
his usual black dress pants and loafers. His black hair that was
usually slicked back was falling in front of his face, one piece falling
over his left eye. One single red smear of blood was on the tip of
his nose. His white shirt was stained through with blood and he had
sweat running down him. Directly in front of him was her mother,
but she wasn't moving and she was covered in blood. Her father looked
at her with wide eyes, a large butcher knife shone in his hand. He
dropped it and ran to the corner of the room. He took his
left hand and in one
swift motioned he through the candle at the couch, which burst into flames.
Jenny stood in a daze, looking at the fire, then at her mother. She
didn't hear, see or smell anything, she was in a trance. She didn't
know what made her do it, but she ran upstairs and grabbed her sister,
who was lying peacefully in her bed. Jenny was trapped, the entire
living room was in flames and she had no where to go. The neighbors
had heard the screams and were gathered in front of the house. Jenny
put her sister back on her bed and grabbed a book. "AAAHHH!!" She screamed
as she threw the book with all of her force at the window that she had
tried to open, with no success. It shattered all over the place and
Jenny looked down.
"HELP!!!" She screamed at the neighbors who moved to the back of the house,
where the window of her sister, Samantha, was located. "Get in a
big group, I have to drop her!" She screamed at the fifty or so neighbors
who did so. Jenny picked up her five year old sister, and with her
eyes closed she dropped her. She heard a scream come from her sister
and Jenny fainted.
Kimberly had gotten into her little car and drove to the hospital.
She drove for twenty minutes to the hospital and then got out of her car.
She had been used to this, it had been going on for a month, actually more
like a lifetime.
Her little brother, Timothy, had the same defeat that Brian Littrell had.
Oddly enough, Timmy was the bigger Backstreet Boy fan than Kimmy was.
He always talked about them and always told Kimmy and her parents that
Brian was his hero. Out of the group, Kimmy thought Kevin was the
best-looking and she loved his voice.
Recently, her brother had been complaining of extreme shortness of breath
and tiredness, he even fainted a couple of times. They rushed him
to the hospital and the doctor, Jasmine Withington, said that he needed
the surgery as soon as possible, but it wasn't possible. Kimmy's
parents couldn't afford the surgery and it was tough enough letting Timmy
stay in the hospital. The doctor wasn't very positive, but she couldn't
help it.
Without the surgery Timmy wouldn't live for much longer. Her parents
were saddened by the news and decided to call the Make A Wish Foundation,
if Timmy was going to die, at least he could meet his idols. And
today was the day that it was going to happen.
She took the elevator up to the pediatrics floor and walked in the door
of her brothers room. She saw five tall young men standing there
and she looked at them and smiled.
"Hi." She said and they all turned their glance to her. "I am Timmy's sister."
She said and they all introduced themselves. Kevin had immediatly
caught her eye and she liked what she saw and smiled. Brian was sitting
next to her brother and chatting with him. Howie and Nick were talking
to her parents and AJ was talking to the doctor. Kevin began talking
to Kim and she enjoyed it, but she only wished that someone could save
her brother...
