Princess
Love - Chapter 19
The next morning everyone woke up early. Valerie was bright and full
of smiles and Howie looked happy.
"How are you doing?" Elizabeth whispered in Val's ear and she smiled.
"Better, thank you." Elizabeth smiled and took a seat next to Brian.
"Someone called this morning, they said that there is going to be a charity
concert and they were wondering if we want to come." AJ said and everyone
looked at him.
"Isn't that a little short notice?" Brian asked as he stood next to Elizabeth.
"I think you guys should do it, I am trying to organize more supporters
for my concerts in Florida and I think it would be good if everyone saw
you performing for a charity. They made a few phone calls and their
management and publicists said that it would be good for them to get
back out into the
spotlight again, especially before their world tour starts again.
"Okay. So... what song should we sing?" Kevin asked and everyone
looked at each other blankly.
"I don't have the slightest idea." AJ said.
"Me neither." Howie said.
"I don't either." Nick said.
"I got an idea!" Brian said and everyone looked at him.
"Yeah, if you have a song written how are we supposed to get the instruments
ready?" Howie asked and Brian closed his mouth and shrugged his shoulders.
"Do you guys even have a band that will play?" Kim asked as she sat next
to Kevin on a little couch in the corner.
"Yeah, they say they have people there that will play for us, but we need
to bring the music." AJ said and Brian stood up again.
"I have another idea!" He said and everyone smiled at him, he wasn't going
to give up. "I will be right back." He said and went to his room.
He quickly went through a couple of files and then called a couple of people
and ran downstairs to catch a couple of faxes. He had the lyrics
and the music right in front of him and he smiled. He ran back upstairs
and into the room where everyone was sitting.
"Okay, everyone out except for the guys." Brian announced and the girls
looked at him.
"Hey, what's the matter with us?" Valerie frowned.
"Nothing, but this is sort of a surprise." Brian said and the girls nodded
and got up and left, going to Elizabeth's room.
"So... what's up?" Nick asked as he took a seat in a chair near the bed.
"Well, you know that song that we last recorded for the new album?" Brian
asked and they all nodded. "Well, I think that song would be perfect."
"For a charity?" Kevin asked and Brian nodded.
"Yeah... why not?" Brian said and showed the paper.
"Yeah, that's a good idea." AJ said and nodded approvingly at the papers.
"The girls are going to faint when they hear this song." Howie said, excitedly.
"We need to get a hold of the band that is going to play it, they will
need to practice it a few times." Brian said and called up the number that
he had been left with incase he needed to talk to anyone about the concert.
Ten minutes later he hung up and nodded. "I am going to go down there
and give it to them, maybe we should go down and practice." Brian said
and stood up, folding the papers and putting them in his coat pocket.
"Yeah, let's go!" Kevin said and stood up. Everyone else stood up
and left the room, Brian went to Elizabeth's room and knocked on the door.
"Yeah?" Elizabeth asked and opened the door. Brian smiled at her
and she smiled back.
"We are going out for a little while, we'll see you later." Brian said
and the girls nodded and they guys left.
"Why are they being so secretive?" Kim smiled and Valerie shrugged her
shoulders.
"I have no idea, but it better be good!" Valerie laughed.
"What do you girls want to do?" Jen asked and smiled as she stood up.
"Shopping!" They all said and smiled at each other.
"Ok, let's go!" Kim led the way and they all walked downstairs and received
more than one stare.
They were all beautiful girls and wore fashionable clothing. Elizabeth
wore a black miniskirt and a white tanktop. Her long blonde hair
had recently been cut to give her a sophistacated look. Jen was wearing
a yellow sundress and sandles. Kim wore black dress pants and a low
cut, tight, baby blue t-shirt. Valerie wore a simple black skirt
that went just above her knees and pink chasmire sweater.
They all walked down the road full of smiles and giggles, walking the five
minute walk to the large mall that they had passed several times before.
"Cool! Where should we go first?" Jen asked as they stood in the center
of the mall and looked around.
"Let's go to a music store." Elizabeth said and they all nodded, walking
to the CD store. They went to the Backstreet Boys section and smiled,
it was completely empty.
"Excuse me, have I seen you before?" A young girl asked Elizabeth who shook
her head.
"I don't think so sweetie, many people think I look familiar." She smiled
and the little girl nodded and ran to her mother.
"Hey mom! Doesn't that lady look familiar?" She pointed to Elizabeth and
the mother nodded.
"What is your name miss?" She asked and Elizabeth couldn't think of anything.
Jen elbowed her and Elizabeth said the first thing she could think of.
"Jen." She blurted out and the mother nodded and turned around.
"Wow! That was close!" She breathed a sigh of relief. "Do you guys
really mind if we leave? I have an idea." Elizabeth said and the three
looked at her.
"What is it?" Kim asked and Elizabeth smiled brightly.
"Follow me!" She ran as quickly as possible in her heals to the main entrance
of the mall and hailed a cab. She gave the address to the driver.
"You know that is a far drive? That will cost extra." The driver said and
Elizabeth shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't care." She said and sat in the front while the other three sat
in the back.
The drive was nearly an hour long, through backroads and past large estates
and ranches. They finally pulled up to the front gate and Elizabeth
got out of the car and went to the speaker that was set up on the marble
wall.
"Gertrude, it's Elizabeth, buzz me in." Elizabeth said and there was a
loud buzz and the gate swung open. They drove another five minutes
up the long, curving, driveway. They finally stopped at the large
house and Elizabeth got out and looked up in wonderment.
"I'm home!" She said and payed the driver and brought her friends into
the house that she had missed so much.
"Daddy?" She called and a maid walked up. Elizabeth didn't recognize
her.
"Are you Miss Elizabeth?" The young lady asked and Elizabeth nodded.
"And you are...?" She asked politely and shook the young girls hand.
"I'm Debbi, I have only been working her for a couple of weeks." She said
and Elizabeth and nodded.
"It's nice to meet you Debbi, where is my father?" She asked, forgetting
to introduce her friends.
"Upstairs in the library." Debbi said.
Debbi was a small girl, she was short and rail thin, she didn't look to
happy or healthy. She had bright red curls that Elizabeth had seen
under the grey cap. They were beautiful and Elizabeth new that Debbi
would have been a pretty girl if she took care of herself.
"Thank you, come on girls." Elizabeth signaled her friends and they all
walked up the grand staircase that was the first thing you saw after the
main hallway when you walked in the house.
"Are you sure? Don't you want to spend sometime with your father?"
Valerie asked and
Elizabeth nodded.
"Yeah, but I want you to meet him first." Elizabeth said and the girls
nodded and followed her up the stairs and down the long hallway.
Elizabeh opened the doorway and saw her father sitting at his keyboard
in the corner of the large library. He had a radio on and Elizabeth
laughed when she heard what was on the radio. The little giggle made
her father look up and he stared up at his only child.
"Lizzy!?" He said and smiled. He stood up and took her in his arms.
"My god, I've missed you so much, you have gotten so beautiful!" He exclaimed
and kissed his daughter on the cheeks.
"I've missed you too." She smiled and backed away. "These are my
friends, Kim, Valerie and Jen." She introduced them and they shook hands
with her father.
"It is nice to meet you girls." He said.
"It's nice to meet you too." Valerie said.
"Yeah, we should let you have some private time." Kim said and Mr. O'Donnell
nodded.
"Yeah... why don't you girls walk around, I know that you will probably
find somethings to amuse yourselves with. The girls nodded and left
the room.
Elizabeth sat next to her father on the leather couch that was against
a bare wall. Shesmiled at him and he smiled back. He hadn't
changed at all in the several months that she hadn't seen him.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" He asked and she laughed.
"That's a good way to start a conversation." She smiled and listened to
the song on the radio.
"I think so." He smiled at her.
"Do you like this song?" She asked, referring to 'All I Have To Give.'
"Yes, but don't change the subject." He said.
"I'm not." She laughed, but he didn't understand.
"Liz... your birthday is coming up, two days." He said and she nodded.
She was lucky, she was going to be able to spend her birthday outside of
the courtroom.
"Yes. It is..." She said, not sure what to say.
"How about you come the day after tomorrow, I will throw you a party."
He said and she smiled at him.
"You don't have to do that." She laughed.
"Yes. I do. I just need to find a band. Invite all of
your friends." He said and she tried not to laugh.
"Well, I got the band covered." She said and he looked at her.
"You sure?"
"Positive." She laughed.
They sat there for an hour and talked. They talked about what she
had been doing, where she had been and the trial. She mentioned that she
was seeing someone but she wasn't sure if it was serious. Then she
remembered Debbi.
"Is Debbi new?" Elizabeth asked and her nodded.
"Yeah, she is gotten in trouble lately and I wanted to help her by giving
her job. She is really weak and can't do much. I really don't
know what was wrong with her, but I think I can at least help her by giving
her a place to say." Elizabeth nodded and got up to meet her friends and
head back home.
She went to the stables for a brief moment and showed her friends her horse,
whom she had missed greatly. They were all fascinated with her and
Elizabeth promised that they could come back and ride her sometime soon.
They got home later and were surprised to see that the guys still weren't
home. They talked for awhile and then went to sleep. They were
all excited about tomorrow, the concert was going to be held and the girls
were looking forward to it.
