Princess
Love - Chapter 12
"Well... I gotta go." Nick said and got his suitcase and went to the front
door.
"Where?" Brian asked, sweat still running down his face.
"To England... remember?" He asked and opened the front door.
"Are you kidding?" Brian asked in amazement. He brushed his brow
with his left hand and tried to wipe the sweat from his face.
"No... why would I be kidding?" Nick asked and further opened the door.
"No! You can't just leave, I mean, did you just see what happened?" Brian
asked and waved his hand behind him in the direction of the kitchen.
"Yes... but I am afraid that there is really nothing that I can do to help."
Nick said and began to make his way out the door.
"I CANNOT believe you! Fine, go!" Brian said and went upstairs.
He really couldn't blame Nick. Brian would have loved to get out
of the house for awhile, everything had gotten crazy. The girls were
always over and Brian felt like he didn't have any space of his own, let
alone anyone to share his feelings with.
He walked into his bathroom and faced the mirror, tears and sweat
mixed on his face.
His hair was a mess and he could feel a bruise developing
on his hip.
"Don't complain Brian... don't complain..." He kept repeating to
himself and looked
back at his reflection in the mirror.
"How come life works out so strange sometimes?" He asked himself and
rolled his eyes and
took a quick shower. He put on a pair of black dress
pants and a blue jacket
over a white shirt. He didn't know where he was
going to go, all we
wanted to do was get out of the house.
"Would you do that for me?" Kevin asked as he laid back on the bed
and looked at Kim.
"Do what?" Kim asked curiously as she walked towards the bed and sat
on the edge.
"Like... would you die for someone that you really cared about?" He
asked and she smiled
at him.
"I don't know... it depends on who we are talking about." She said
and smiled at him
and he looked in her eyes for a long moment. She almost
looked haunted by
the question, like it had pulled a cord in her heart, like
maybe she had actually
thought of dying for someone before.
"Someone that you love." He said and sat up and put his hand on her
cheek and smiled at
her. He tilted his head to the left and looked at her
and she smiled, he
pulled closer and gave her a small kiss on the lips. "I
would never ask for
you to do that, I was just wondering..." He said and she
kissed him back.
"I know..." She mumbled and stood up, their lips still locked
together as she moved
on top of him...
"I hope he is okay..." Howie said as he put his hands on his hips and
made his 20th trip
from one side of the bedroom to the other.
"I bet he is, he is in good hands." Valerie said as she sat
cross-legged at the
swivel chair by Howie's desk, which was covered with
looseleaf paper.
"Yeah... but he scared the living daylights out of me... but not as
bad as I think he
scared Brian... I hope he is okay." He said and ran his
hand through his dark
hair that was just above his shoulders.
"Howie... you worry to much." She smiled, but now she was starting to
worry about him.
"They are my friends!" He stopped in the middle of the room and
looked at her.
"Sorry." He said and then he started pacing again.
"Okay, Howie. If you don't stop I might throw up all over your floor
and then YOU will
have to clean it up." She said and he looked at her.
"Sorry." He repeated and opened the door and went in the hallway.
Valerie stood up and
looked to see what he was doing, he was now pacing the
length of the hallway.
"You are driving me insane!" Valerie said.
"I AM GOING OUT!" They heard Brian call from downstairs and the
door slammed and Valerie
jumped at the sound.
"What was that?" Kevin asked as he opened the door and looked out,
curiously.
"Brian, he went out." Howie said and scratched his head and went
downstairs, Valerie
thought he needed to be alone so she sat on the bed and
looked out at the
window, wondering if everyone's life was as hectic as
theirs.
Brian had his hands in his pockets and he looked down at his feet as
he walked down the
long road, not exactly knowing where he was going to go.
"Excuse me... do you know where the Cafe is?" Asked a young woman who
stood next to him.
Brian raised his eyebrows, it was late and he didn't
think anyone would
be out this late.
"Sure... actually, why don't you follow me? I was heading that way
anyway." He said,
which really wasn't the truth, but it sounded like a good
idea. She stood
next to him and they walked in silence to the Cafe in
silence under the
stars.
They got to the small little coffee shop and took seats outside.
Brian sat across from
the girl. The coffee shop was open all night so they
ordered to coffees
and waited for a conversation to start.
"So... what are you doing out so late?" Brian asked, not liking the
quietness.
"Well... I just got up here from Miami and I wasn't tired and I had
nothing to do so I
decided to take a walk. I am up here on business." She
said.
"Really? What kind of business is that?" He asked.
"Oh..." She paused for a long moment until she could think of
something to say.
"Well, actually, I am starting a charity and I wanted to
get some businesses
up here to join in." She said quietly.
"Really!? That is nice. We would love to help-" He stopped himself
before he finished
and put his hand over his mouth and laughed. "Oops,
nevermind."
"What were you going to say?" She asked as she looked down at the
coffee. She
really hadn't gotten a good look at her companion and she
wondered what he looked
like.
"Well... I sing, my group likes to do charities." He said and she
smiled, he was just
what she needed to help her.
"Really? And what is your group called?" She asked curiously,
straining to see his
face. The lights were so dim that it really didn't even
make it clear at all
what he looked like or even what he was wearing.
"The Backstreet Boys." He said and she stood up.
"Well... I gotta go." She said and Brian looked up at her shadow and
wondered what was
wrong.
"Did I say something wrong?" He asked.
"No." She said and turned around and headed into the further darkness.
"What is your name?" He shouted.
"Liz." She said and quickened her pace and he smiled and ran towards
her. He turned
her around and looked down at her in the darkness.
"I talked to you before..." He said.
"Yeah." She said, not sure which time he was talking about.
"On a bridge, in England." He said and she nodded.
"Come with me." He said and grabbed her arm, gently, and ran to a gas
station across the
street. She stood under the lights and looked up at him.
"Oh my god..." He said as he looked at her and she shook her head and
got free of his grasp
and ran. "No! There is nothing wrong with who you were
or what you are now,
I was just surprised..." He said.
"Yeah, well don't be. I am normal like everyone else, except for
the
fact that once was
a Princess." She said and stood in the shadows and he
walked closer to her.
"I know how you feel, just because I am a singer some people act
different. Please,
let me help you. You look like such a sad person." He
said as he walked
even closer to her.
"What would you know about sad?" She asked, irritated.
"A lot." He said and stepped on the curb and saw a cab slowly pass,
he hailed it and grabbed
her arm and sat her next to him. He gave the
address of the home
he shared with his bandmates to the driver and they
drove. He wanted
them to meet her more than anything in the world. They all
had a lot to learn
from her.
